"In a world where "Plant-based" is the new "Keto", vegans are thriving. The drooping side salad is gone, and in its place are a variety of innovative options. Chefs are embracing the challenge of cooking without animal products, and they are transcending food boundries as a result. The words "tender", "succulent", and "creamy", have been hi-jacked, and the vegan option is now the colourful star of the show. There are now exclusively vegan eateries, and they are pulling out all the stops to deliver gratifying and memorable experiences.
It is an incredibly exciting time to be a foodie, and I look forward to promoting what these ingenious establishments have to offer us all."

Frequently Asked Questions
What is "The Vegan Food Critic"
"The Vegan Food Critic" is an alias which allows me to review food, recipes, and eateries, in an honest manner. In addition to facilitating truthful reviews, having this alias means that restaurants don't see me coming... and I get an authentic experience as a result. As lovely as it is to be pampered, I believe that reviews should reflect the experience of the average diner.
What is your background?
As mentioned previously, my identity is currently anonymous. I can tell you a few things though.
I am a retired Brand Manager for a company high in the Times Top 100 Employers list
I have worked with big name clients such as Tesco and Premier Food - advising them about their visuals for upcoming campaigns.
I have an MSc in Psychological Research
I am a published author based in Scotland (UK).
How long have you been a food critic?
Under a different alias, I have reviewed restaurants for approximately 9 years now. In the past two years though, my passion for the art of food reviewing has intensified - posting regular blogs online, and original content daily via Instagram. The posts vary from food photography in local vegan eateries, to dishes that I have cooked myself (+ tips on how to elevate a dish!). I have enjoyed these experiences, but I do not believe it is possible to capture the dining experience through a tiny instagram post... hence the creation of this website!
What do YOU know about food?
After a hard days work, people might assume that I would slump on the couch with a pot noodle... the truth was quite different though. During my time off I loved taking online cooking courses, then applying my knowledge in the kitchen. To transform my own food from bland to delicious, was (and is still) an incredibly satisfying feeling. Now retired from my Brand Manager position, I spend most of my time working with local vegan eateries, cooking in my own kitchen, or reading about cooking!
What do you know about the food industry?
From age 18 - 25 I worked in various bars, nightclubs, and restaurants (one with a Mitchelin Star!)... so I have some experience on the "front line". My experience as a waitress, barmaid, and kitchen assistant taught me a huge amount about the industry. 1) It's not for the faint-hearted!
My later employment (mentioned previously) gave me an appreciation for the huge amount of competition in the food industry, and the lengths that people will go to, to stand out. It's a cut-throat world, but it's also an incredibly creative and exciting one.
How long have you been vegan?
I have been vegan for approximately 2 years now. Before that I was predominantly vegetarian, and didn't think twice about eating cheese. I was brought up in carnivorous household, so probably didn't hear the word "vegan" once! When I learnt what veganism was though, I realised that it was aligned really tightly with my beliefs... and it made sense to cut out the animal products!
What is the best part of your job?
That's a tricky one! Tasting great food is obviously an amazing feeling, but what I really love is the moment just after the dish/product arrives. All my senses light up, and I feel like an excited kid with a new toy to explore! I also love stepping into a restaurant for the first time - it's like walking into a new world!
